So this is Nippon
Some notes
from the campaign trail from Kaiser Lucanus of Diptera who is now known as DeLambre, companion of Prince
William of Amber.
The second scribblescribble of Delambre,
working with the forces of Amber to hope that the next jump is a jump home …
We eat in the
hotel, as the hotel manager tells us of problems he is having with some local
criminals. I wonder why he does not just fall upon them with fire, Logrus and sword and deal with the matter, but I understand
from previous conversations from William that it would be rude to do so, so
hold my peace.
Darig requests weapons, and the manager pulls a
small mechanical device from his coat and offers it to him. Lord Torc changes the texture of a cushion, which makes him seem
very happy when it becomes furry. He then turns it into a hammer and starts
hitting the floor. It makes a flump sound and he looks disappointed. The Fae
are hilarious to watch. I wonder if he will start pouring paint down his
trousers at any point soon?
Discussions are held
as to our dress – we are mostly likely to stick out like slughorns
in this place so Tetsuro says he will get us all
appropriate clothes. I ask for smoked glass discs to cover my eyes, as I have
seen pictures of such in places somewhat like this.
Our path to Amber
is likely through the docks, where the local criminals are strongest. We may
have to pay passage, but apparently Darig carries
diamonds wherever he goes. Perhaps it is in case he needs to propose marriage
to someone at short notice?
We sleep, wake,
and eat and then someone turns up with two cases full of world appropriate
weapons. There is much hilarity as hands are fitted to weapons, and people look
in holes that apparently, they should not. Tetsuro
offers me a gun and I pick one at random. Any foe which faces us is likely not
used to an assault by several warriors of Chaos. Apparently, we will learn how
to use these guns firing on the police, which seems
rude, but this is not our shadow.
We are taken
within carriages to a location where the police are and are shown into a room.
Hector talks a lot and then we point the guns at the target. Surpanakha goes first and there is a loud bang sound, and a
hole appears in the target’s head. It’s all a bit of an anti-climax. I try the
same, and the hole appears where I am pointing it. These are boring weapons.
We go to a ‘situation
room’ where targets flap out with different pictures on them. Some have guns or
other ways of signalling good intent. We are scored on appropriate behaviour as
well as accuracy, so must show discernment, and most especially, must kowtow
when targets dressed as police appear. This is proof that we are moral people,
apparently.
We return to the
hotel, and then wait. There are worst places to wait. This is dry, doesn’t
smell, and has almost no-one trying to kill us. I hang spells – Carapace,
Terror of the Night, Formic Barrage, and Night Blend.
Tetsuro brings us a guest – some commander of a
sort, though no longer in his command. His face bears the marks of a recent
beating. He is apparently a ship captain, and can get us to Zircon. But he has
no crew. I wonder why this is our best choice?
