Morwaith’s Diary part 10: An Unwelcome Guest at the Funeral

In The Doom that Came to Amber

27th Bull 3658:

Perhaps it is time, given my new role to keep a journal of events. I awoke this morning as Archpriest of the Unicorn. The bed I slept in is a fine affair, the cross-faced joints are joy to behold though the timber treatment is beginning to show the signs of age.

In an effort to strengthen my power base within the city I spoke to Lord Grim and Lord Henge, conservative men to whom I gave a conservative message – emphasised stability, their kind like stability. Henge displayed a certain reticence and may require some file work before he is a serviceable tool.

Most of the rest of the day I spent examining the working parts of this church as senior clergy talked with me. Some are very fine pieces, others show expected wear but are serviceable, there may have to be replacement of some of the works. Though functioning it is in need of some overhaul and, as any tool that has passed through many masters’ hands, it is still possible to see some of the marks of those that crafted it.

It can be made serviceable, just a question of parts and labour.
