Nathan’s Diary part 9: The Fae Summit

In The Doom that Came to Amber

23^rd Bull 3658

I arrive in Los Angeles and take an internal flight to Flagstaff and then a helicopter to the Grand Canyon Visitor Centre. I proceed to hike down the Grand Canyon using Pattern sight to look around. The shadow seems remarkably real.

Halfway down I hear a cry from behind. At that point a headsized boulder drops down narrowly avoiding me. Instinctively looking up I see a larger piece of rock is falling. I reckon on having seconds to avoid it. I push past a tourist on a donkey on the inside of the path which looses its footing. A few seconds later the rock hits the donkey and the man falls off the path to his death. I ignore the cries of some woman higher up the path and head down.

I look for fossils similar to the one that came out of the meteor that landed in Amber some time back but to no avail.

At the bottom I see that there appears to be a split in reality that has healed over. It is similar to the split in the tectonic plates. A helicopter flits down and I hide behind a rock. I believe that I can use the Pattern to open up the rent and to follow it through shadow. I imagine that this is what Sarah did. I use the Pattern to remove the helicopter.
